A Look Back At Some Of Movember's Greatest Facial Hair Mavericks

A Look Back At Some Of Movember's Greatest Facial Hair Mavericks

Grow a mo, save a bro.

Movember was an off-the-cuff idea spawned by friends Travis Garone and Luke Slattery over a beer in Melbourne, Australia, back in 2003 - when facial hair of any kind for guys was a real no-go - in order to raise awareness for men's health, in particular prostate cancer. In the end, they found 30 lads willing to grow a mo to save a bro.

Today, where facial hair is now a trend, an estimated five million people have taken part in the UK alone.

The Movember Foundation prides itself on being the only charity addressing and tackling global men's health, and the problems therein: prostate and testicular cancer and mental health among others.

"We know what works for men, and how to find and fund the most innovative research to have both a global and local impact. We're independent of government funding, so we can challenge the status quo and invest quicker in what works. In 13 years we've funded more than 1,200 men's health projects around the world," they say.

Here are some of 2016s contributions.

Although props where props is due, so far so tame, don't you think? Have a gander at some historical moustache efforts...

Christ. Who is that fucking hairy? Seriously?

Anyway, Movember and men's health awareness is a great thing and I'd implore you to get involved, even if it means having to buy a fake moustache from your local fancy dress shop.
