Fitness Blogger Shares Truth About Pictures You See On Instagram

Instagram isn't real life.

Let's be perfectly frank here: Instagram isn't real life. It's an accentuated reality where most of us show everyone our highlights.

Sometimes people will spend hours tuning photos on apps to get rid of blemishes and whatnot. Even simple pictures of food can be littered with filters to take them from looking average to appetising.

So it is always nice to know that some of the fittest people on the planet take advantage of good lightning.

Fitness blogger Anna Victoria has amassed 1.3 million followers on Instagram by giving her fans meal plans and exercise plans, as well as trying to motivate people to try and get in shape.

She often posts photos of her looking incredible, her client's body transformations or food that look bloody delicious.

But fans got to see the real Anna when she unashamedly put up a pic showing her under different lights:

In the post Anna says, "Lighting. Is. Everything. 99% of pictures you see on social media are taken in the best possible lighting and that ain't no accident.

"So when I got into the elevator with the lighting on the right, I zoned in on the cellulite on the back of my arms. Yes, cellulite on your arms is a thing!

"I've had it since the beginning of my journey and while it's lightened up since then, it's still not totally gone... because I'm human. Seriously, girls, stop thinking you're the only one with cellulite and that it's some kind of disease!"

She says her fans shouldn't be put off by certain aspects of their bodies - but rather use it for empowerment.

"So, do I love the look of my arms on the right? No, but I don't hate it or myself for it, either. And you shouldn't either."

It's such a strong message to men and women who might sometime scroll through their feeds and feel like that body type is never attainable.

But it's not the first time Ms Victoria has showed her fans unflattering photos to send a message

In the post last month Anna chose to focus on how different angles can play a massive part in showing off your figure.

Anna says, "As I'm getting older, I have cellulite and stretch marks that aren't going away, and I welcome them. They represent a life fully lived (for 28 years so far) and a healthy life and body at that. How can I be mad at my body for perfectly normal "flaws"?

The blogger says she posted the photo because she "recently came across an article talking about how one woman stated she refuses to accept her flaws, because she doesn't see them as flaws at all. I love that because it sends such a powerful message that our belly rolls, cellulite, stretch marks are nothing to apologize for, to be ashamed of, or to be obsessed with getting rid of!"

Here's another one:

She added: "I'm sharing this because I just received an email from a 16 year old girl that said I am the only person she follows that actually made her feel good about herself.

"That even though she's not particularly unhappy with her body, that seeing endless perfect photos started to make herself compare, poke and prod at her own body.

"The impact social media has on young girls and their self-esteem is an issue I feel very strongly about and if me posting one casual, non-posing, non-done up photo can help a young girl (or man, or anyone of any age!) feel better about themselves, then I'm happy to put myself out there."

It's interesting to see the difference, and a good message to be putting out there.
