Gessica Notaro spent two months in hospital after a brutal acid attack left much of her face scarred.

The 27-year-old was allegedly ambushed by her ex-boyfriend, who is awaiting trail for the incident.

She faces a year long wait for plastic surgery and spends £600 per month on medication, eye drops and lotions for her wounds.

The former Miss Italy finalist told the Daily Mail: "'I did my own two months of prison. I can't live life as I used to. I can't go out in the sun, I am constantly trapped in this mask and my face hurts all the time.

"Even when I'm better, I will have scars on the inside for the rest of my life. I will always be scared to get out of my car and walk home because I will relive that scene again and again."

But instead of hiding from the world, Gessica has bravely shown her face on Italian television to tell the world her story.

She went on Canale 5 and began her interview with a scarf around her face. Host Maurizio Costanzo told her that she could keep it on but after a few minutes she revealed her face.

Gessica told the crowd while her face is 'ruined' her facial features are still there with her nose and mouth still intact.

Her defining moment on the TV programme came when she said to the host and the audience: "I want you to see what he did to me. This isn't love."

Gessica's ex, Jorge Edson Tavares, was allegedly furious and jealous when they broke up. The bodyguard is accused of tracking her movements and threatening Gessica.

"He followed me everywhere I went, threatened me and never left me alone. He even staged a fake suicide, trying to appeal to my sensitivity. He came to my house with a rope and pretended to hang himself from the gate in my front yard," she said.

The former beauty queen says she went to the police but claims that all they did was tell him to stay away from her.

"I think he was hidden behind other cars - he must have crawled on the floor and crept behind mine. As soon as I put my head out of the window I saw him come towards me from the back of the car and throwing the acid at me.

Gessica said: "I actually felt the plastic of the bottle on my face. He lifted his arm to make sure he emptied the bottle completely and didn't leave one drop. My face was burning and I instantly started losing my sight.

"I felt desperate because I knew that the more time passed, the more the acid would corrode my face. I had to find the fastest way to get to hospital for help."

Gessica insists she doesn't want revenge but going on the TV show was a way for her to show her ex what he's allegedly done to her.
