This Little Boy Has Come Up With An Invention To Stop Babies Dying In Hot Cars

He's incredible.

This amazing little LAD has created an invention that he hopes will save the lives of babies and toddlers who get locked in hot cars.

Ten-year-old Bishop Curry V, from Texas, came up with the idea, named the Oasis, after hearing that a local six-month-old baby died after being left in a car on a hot day.

The Oasis, which is still in its design stage, attaches to the bottom of a car seat and if the car becomes too hot a fan will kick in blowing cool air until the parents or authorities can rescue the child. Clever.

Deciding to put his idea in action, Bishop, with the help of his parents, has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds to get the product made and available.

Lawyers told the family they would need to raise at least $20,000 (£15,807) for prototyping, manufacturing fees and a patent, the HuffPost reports. Since launching the page in January, they've already exceeded their goal, raising $24,666 (£19,492).

In a post to the page, his dad, also called Bishop, wrote: "Thanks to all of your support Bishop's Oasis invention patent documentation is with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

"This has definitely been an amazing journey for Bishop and he is anxiously awaiting to hear back from to USPTO and begin the manufacturing process so that parents can have access to this technology."

In an interview with NBC, Bishop Snr, said: "Sometimes babies fall asleep and they're really quiet, so if you're rushing home from work or you're rushing to the grocery store, I could see how somebody could forget."

According to figures published in the New York Post, 12 children and babies have died after being left in hot cars in the US, this year alone. On average, there are around 37 deaths a year. Texas often has a particularly high number.

However, young Bishop is hoping to change all that, adding: "It would be a dream to have lots of inventions that would save many lives."

He's also managed to get some willing staff, in the form of his classmates at school, who have told him they'd like to work for him.

I don't know about you, but I reckon there's big things in this kid's future.
