Lean In 15 Joe Wicks’ Recipe Has More Fat And Calories Than KFC Meal

This seems weird...

Essex boy and body coach Joe Wicks' recipe and workout programmes are the fastest selling diet books in the UK - of all time! He's the only person to have three diet books sell out in the same year. He promises quick and easy recipes that take 15 minutes and 15 minute workouts to match them - and they've been hugely popular.

But Joe doesn't put the nutrition values on the recipes - so you can't see how many calories each one has, nor the fat or sugar content.

And a nutrition coach from Bristol has just slated his Cheesy Chicken Chorizo and Spinach - he says he worked out exactly what's in the meal - and it's calorific.

Matt Cooper says he isn't advocating KFC as a replacement - he just wants people to realise that something that's called "lean" isn't necessary as good for you as you think it is. Without the facts, you can't make an informed decision.

On his Facebook page he posted: "Calories ALWAYS matter when it comes to losing weight.

"Fresh, home cooked meals should be the cornerstone of any healthy diet, but if you don't pay attention to what's going into your meals, you could end up spinning your wheels for a long time."

Matt says there are 1,120 calories, 102g of protein, 7g of carbohydrate and 76g of fat in Joe Wicj's Cheesy Chicken Chorizo and Spinach.

The NHS recommends that men consume on average 2000 calories a day. That means that one meal would be almost 75 per cent of your food a day! I don't know about you, but I prefer to eat more than one meal a day.

In comparison, a KFC meal has add 500 calories, 27g of protein, 61g of carbs and 14g. And that's junk food.

It may be fresh food, but chorizo and cheese are high in fat and you should be careful how much you consume a day. Matt argues that people may not realise what they're eating and struggle to lose weight and end up doing longer workouts.

Supporters of Joe Wick have said he doesn't want people to concentrate on counting calories, and prefers to turn them onto healthy food rather than processed fast food.

Joe addressed these concerns in Men's Fitness. He said: "One guy was comparing one of my Lean In 15 recipes to a KFC meal, saying they were just as bad as each other.

"Whatever you think about me, that is unfair, I'm encouraging people to eat unprocessed food, drink water, learn to cook for themselves. It's not the same thing at all."

Hmm, maybe it's safer to just stick to microwave pizzas
