Nick Johnson, from Brooklyn, has become the first person in the US to catch all 142 Pokémon available to him.
However, if Johnson was going to become the first Pokémon Go player to catch 'em all worldwide, then he would need to travel to Europe, Asia and Australia to catch three rare Pokémon that are not available in the US. The remaining six are unaccounted for at present, though there are reports Mew may be in Guyana.
Helping Johnson complete his task, several companies have joined the phenomenon of the game that draws on the concept of augmented reality.
His round-the-world flights will be covered by Expedia, while Marriott Rewards will be sponsoring his accommodation, Businessinsider reports.

His journey will take him to Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney before returning home hopefully having caught Mr. Mime, Farfetch'd and Kangaskhan.
"At Expedia we are deeply passionate about travel and love how it has inspired Nick and players from all around the world to explore new places as they capture Pokémon. We're so happy to partner with Nick as he travels from continent to continent in his relentless effort," an Expedia spokesperson said.
As Johnson and his sponsors plan his trip, Niantic, the maker of the Pokémon Go game, has deactivated PokéVision, the map that consumers were using to locate rare Pokémon quickly.
As a result, Johnson's task has just become that much closer to impossible, even though he prefers not the use the aid.
