A Hollywood director has revealed for the first time that he believes the assassination of US president John F Kennedy in 1963 was an inside job.
Oliver Stone claims he was told by a former member of the presidential security detail that JFK's murder was conducted by a member of the secret service.
According to Stone, the man, known only as 'Ron', had told his son but wanted to reveal what he knew before he passed away as he was suffering from cancer, the Mirror reports.

Stone, who has directed a film called JFK all about the assassination, exchanged secret notes with the man before they finally met. He was initially extremely sceptical about the claims but, after meeting Ron in person, believed the claims to be true.
The Warren Commission has ruled that JFK's death had been carried out by former US marine Lee Harvey Oswald as the president travelled in an open limousine through Dallas, Texas, in 1963.
Many have doubted the commission's findings, however, and the new conspiracy is that it was in fact an inside job.
According to Stone, a Vietnam veteran, he sees the new evidence as 'plausible' and 'very authentic'.

The new revelations emerged after Stone told Matt Zoller Seitz, an author writing about the life of the Oscar-winning screenwriter.
In the book it says of Stone and Ron's interactions: "He came to me through a series of weird letters through post office boxes.
"Everything would go to a PO Box, and he'd locate it from offshore, from Bermuda."

The author, Seitz, said: "I think it was because he trusted me, and also because both the father and the son have been dead for a while.
"Nobody has ever heard this story. I'm the first person."
The book, titled The Oliver Stone Experience, will be published on September 13 by Abrams & Chronicle books.
