Picking Your Nose Is Dangerous As Well As Gross, Apparently

There are two types of people in this world; people who pick their nose, and people who lie about it. It's the same with weeing in the shower - I lie about it.
According to otolaryngologist Dr Erich Voigt, picking your nose isn't just a disgusting habit, it's actually dangerous.
Speaking on a Business Insider video, Dr Voigt explains how introducing germs into your nose such a Staphylococcus aureus ('a germ that can live in the front of the nose'), mixed with picking, can cause problems.
"By picking your nose, it causes little abrasions, some blood comes out and it's food for the germs," Dr Voigt says.
As a result, these abrasions "bleed, promoting germs, increasing the crust and irritation by picking your nose."
Depending how clean your hands are, this could introduce some seriously nasty bacteria in your body.
Dr Voigt adds how bad it can be for children, saying: "Children are notorious for picking their nose, and they give themselves nose bleeds.
"The blood supply to the front of the nose is very vigorous - there are five arteries that lead to the front of the nose.
"When an abrasion occurs there can be vigorous bleeding, so children induce a lot of nosebleeds that way."
