But he is missing the point.

Killer clowns. Honestly, just the two words together make me feel sorry for them. You've got to have little to absolutely no life to put on a clown costume and try to scare kids.

Two of the original clowns took to Good Morning Britain to discuss the events that have been creeping people out over the last few weeks.

But they were keen to emphasise that they're different. They don't target little kids or elderly people, they just target youths who can appreciate the joke.

With that in mind, it looks like Piers Morgan has kind of missed the point here when he tried and fails to have a go. The whole point of them going on TV was to raise awareness of how daft this craze is.

One of the clowns, Endrit Ferizoli from Trollstation, said: "[The clown sightings in the UK are] a bit weird, that's unacceptable.

"Someone dressing up as a clown, running round scaring people, that's pretty creepy.

"When we do it, straight away when we scare them, we say we are joking. But, most of the time, people actually like it."

At one point, it became apparent that Endrit had been jailed for nine months earlier this year, following a prank involving a fake bomb and robbery.

Piers said: "There's nothing funny about staging bomb threats, Why is it funny for you guys to wear clown masks and scare young and old people?

"It's not hilarious, that's why you went to jail for it this year. It's not hilarious. What you are doing is a form of terrorising people."

He added: "You don't seem to have learnt your lesson."

One of the pair replied: "Dressed up as a clown, and doing a bomb hoax, that's a different thing."

Sir Alan Sugar probably summed things up the best.
