Prepare Yourself - The New £10 Note Is Coming Soon

Prepare Yourself - The New £10 Note Is Coming Soon

And the £20 will not be long after that...

No-one knew that the introduction of a new five pound note would cause Great Britain to crumble and weirdly contribute to the most media coverage eBay's had since the '90s.

But it happened. This is now the world we're living in. Killer clowns are stalking our children, Donald Trump is probably going to be the next American President, and five pound notes are plastic. Welcome to 2016.

Don't get too comfortable, because TEN POUND NOTES ARE COMING.

Yes, you get to have all the fun you've had with the fiver AGAIN!

Between September and October next year, the three Scottish issuing banks will be printing the next £10 notes on polymer.

However, The Bank of England, which showed us the fiver as you can see below, has said that we can expect the new polymer £10 note in the summer of 2017. The £20 note will be with us in 2020.

Interestingly, there are no plans for a polymer £50 note. Probably because literally no-one uses them.

Jane Austen will feature on the new tenner. This is a massive deal, as there are currently no women on the back of English banknotes. At a 2013 press conference, Bank of England governor Mark Carney said: "Jane Austen certainly merits a place in the select group of historical figures to appear on our banknotes.

"Her novels have an enduring and universal appeal and she is recognised as one of the greatest writers in English literature.

"As Austen joins Adam Smith, [Matthew] Boulton and [James] Watt, and in future, [Winston] Churchill, our notes will celebrate a diverse range of individuals who have contributed in a wide range of fields."

We don't yet know exactly what it's going to look like - especially after the mock-ups from the press conference ended up looking absolutely nothing like what Britain ended up with.

But the initial concept is something like this...

And let's take a look at the fiver Britain ended up getting...

So who knows what we'll end up with. All I know is that you better be collecting them as soon as you can and check the serial numbers. You could make some serious cash. This bloke's currently shifting a fiver on eBay for £65,000.
