Study Finds That Smart People Need To Be Left Alone

Relatable.

When my editor asked if I'd cover this story about a study that found smart people need to be left alone, I said "You again? Christ sake. Piss off will ya'? Always in my ear. Constantly. A fucking never ending cycle of bollocks. Leave me be."

I put my headphones in and now here we are. Yes, it turns out smart people don't really depend on social relationships as much as thick people, according to research done by evolutionary psychologists from Singapore Management University and the London School of Economics and Political Science.

They studied over 15,000 young adults and concluded that although people generally like spending time with mates and loved ones, the intelligentsia would much rather be locked away reading Russian literature and scoffing at extroverts.

They said that it could be due to evolution. Smart people have historically been more successful at adapting to their surroundings. Another reason suggested that because smarter people are seen to be more aspirational, they are thus a lot more secluded and driven to achieve certain goals, as opposed to their stupid mates who love talking to other people and going on pub crawls.

Mix the two, I say. Work in the pub. Surprisingly effective, according to a friend of a friend.
