These Are The Drinks That Are Least Likely To Give You A Stinking Hangover

Nice to know at Christmas.

Christmas is a time to let yourself go. Just enjoy all the food, drink, and inevitable indigestion that the holidays bring. It's okay, everyone else is doing the same.

However, if you're one of those people who love going out on Christmas Eve but hate waking up to a cracking hangover and having to endure shitty small talk with relatives you hate - this one is for you.

No-one wants to excuse themselves from a catch up with auntie Mabel to puke up the mince pie you just politely ate. It's not fun and how are you going to get through the Christmas movie marathons when you feel like you've been rolled over by several trucks and someone shat in your mouth?

So stick to these...

BEER

Believe it or not, beer is actually one of the best drinks you can have that won't result in a hangover. It may not feel like that the day after - but it's true. It's all down to the low alcohol content. Typically, beer is three to six per cent which (when compared to spirits) isn't that bad.

The yeast and cereals included also slow down the absorption from your stomach to your bloodstream. It fills you up quite a bit, too, so it's not like when you had a Malibu and coke and can slurp them down like no-one's business. Don't even lie and tell me you don't enjoy the occasional Malibu.

GIN

Gin. One of the most delicious of the spirits. Personally, I've only recently been introduced to its deliciousness after a bad experience of downing some of my nan's gin and tonic when I was a kid and thinking it was lemonade. That'll put you off for a while.

As a pure spirit, gin is actually really good if you want to avoid the dreaded thirst of a monstrous hangover. Alcohol dehydrates you, so be careful.

THE DRINK LEAST LIKELY TO GIVE YOU A HANGOVER...

Vodka

Unbelievably, vodka is the best drink to stick to if you don't want to be puking up for eight hours solid the morning after the night before.

Vodka is filtered and pure. Yes, it tastes like shit but if you chuck some Fanta Fruit Twist in there you can hardly taste it. The British Medical Association conducted a study which determined that vodka is definitely the least likely to give you a hangover.

HOWEVER. It's also easy to drink too much. So be careful.

Things to avoid

Firstly, don't mix your drinks. Pick one and stick with it. Secondly, drink in moderation. I don't want to sound like your mum but there's a thin line between having the time of your life and being that drunk prick no-one wants to talk to. Drink responsibly. In terms of drinks, avoid BRANDY, WHISKY and CHAMPAGNE.

You have been warned.
