This Guy Reckons He Knows Exactly How To Become A Millionaire

Somehow I don't think it's this easy...

The idea of never having to worry about money is appealing to, well, everyone.

I guess that's why so many people fantasise about being a millionaire. The majority of us live paycheck to paycheck, and it's not like we can drop £10k on a holiday to Barbados whenever we fancy it.

Imagine never having to look at your bank balance, or do that little half-prayer when you pay for something on your card the day before payday?

Well, fear not LADs. This guy reckons he's got it all figured out. Turns out we're all a bit stupid. You know that job that you put loads of effort into, spend 40 hours a week at and knackers you out so much that you live for the weekend? Well, that's if you GET a weekend, of course. Yeah, you need another one. Or two.

Author,Tom Corley, conducted a study over five years which took a look at the habits of the rich and poor.

He found that self-made millionaires tend to have more than one income stream.

In fact:

  • 65% of self-made millionaires had three streams of income
  • 45% of self-made millionaires had four streams of income
  • 29% of self-made millionaires had five+ streams of income

So yeah... you need to get more things going on in the precious time you have between leaving the doors of your day job and returning the following morning. Hmm.

Business Insider said that most self-made millionaires have their own companies. No way. I thought they became unfathomably rich by working for someone else?

They reference a study by the Economist which cites that around half of the world's millionaires have their own business. Which sounds weird... but I guess if you take into account lottery winners, people who've inherited their millions, kings and Donald Trump, that does sound about right.

Sadly, most of us a) can't afford to start up our own businesses or b) don't have the time. What with our current jobs taking up roughly two thirds of our weeks.

So I guess we're just going to have to get used to shoving our hands down the back of the couch at the end of the month. Or buying lottery tickets. Someone's got to win, right?
