Everybody's heard of the black widow spider. Stories of local breakouts crop up on Facebook every few months and makes us all scared. Even those who aren't particularly bothered by spiders.

Why? Cause black widow have a poisonous reputation. But does anybody actually know how much damage a bite from can do?

Black widows are just bigger than a paper clip but can cause horrible effects to their victims. After about 15 minutes, the spider's concoction of neurotoxins will seize their grip. As you can probably guess, from then on out, it's all just proper shit.

This new video from Tech Insider gives you a better idea.

Still, even if their reputation is terrible, a bite from one of these bad boys is only likely to happen if the spider feels provoked or that their eggs are threatened. And the chances of dying are rare if you're a healthy adult. Whatever that is.
