Chris Cornell's Daughter Performs Tribute To Her Dad And Chester Bennington

Chris Cornell's Daughter Performs Tribute To Her Dad And Chester Bennington

She was joined by One Republic.

Chris Cornell's daughter, Toni, has paid an emotional tribute to her father and his close friend Chester Bennington.

The 12-year-old joined One Republic on stage during Good Morning America to perform a version of 'Hallelujah'.

"It's an honor to perform this for my dad and Chester and to sing for them," Toni Cornell said in a statement.

Linkin Park were reportedly set to appear on GMA's summer concert series, but were replaced by One Republic following Chester Bennington's tragic suicide.

Bennington sang 'Hallelujah' at Cornell's funeral, after he took his own life in a hotel room on May 18. The Linkin Park later took his own life too, on July 20, Cornell's birthday.

"This is just an honor to be here," One Republic lead singer Ryan Tedder said. "I was lucky enough to write and produce with [Cornell], and get to know him and his family over the years. He was even in one of our videos."

The two singers had a close friendship and, following Cornell's death, Bennington shared a long post on social media as a tribute to his mate. The post thanked him for allowing him to be a part of his life and for being an inspiration.

He wrote: "I dreamt [sic] about the Beatles last night. I woke up with Rocky Raccoon playing in my head and a concerned look on my wife's face. She told me my friend had just passed away.

"Thoughts of you flooded my mind and I wept. I'm still weeping, with sadness, as well as gratitude for having shared some very special moments with you and your beautiful family.

"You have inspired me in many ways you could never have known. Your talent was pure and unrivaled. Your voice was joy and pain, anger and forgiveness, love and heartache all wrapped up into one.

"I suppose that's what we all are. You helped me understand that.

"I just watched a video of you singing 'A Day in the Life' by the Beatles and thought of my dream. I'd like to think you were saying goodbye in your own way.

"I can't imagine a world without you in it. I pray you find peace in the next life.

"I send my love to your wife and children, friends and family.

"Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life."

The pair's memory will live on in music forever.
