Singer Usher has reportedly settled a legal dispute with a former partner after he was accused of giving the woman genital herpes. Radar Online has published papers, which it reports to be legal documents, claiming that the artist paid more than $1.1 million (£846,000) to the stylist as well as covered her medical bills, which amounted to $2,754 (£2,117).

In the affidavit, the defendant alleged the 38-year-old performer, full name Usher Raymond IV, knew he had the sexually transmitted infection, but didn't tell her before having sex. That action is in contravention to California law, which states that it's illegal to knowingly give a person an STI.

It's understood that he had a green discharge from his penis, but he insisted that it was nothing and continued having unprotected sex with the woman.

The court documents say: "On March 16, [the defendant] told Raymond that he had given her genital herpes. She had told him that he had devastated her, ruined her body, and their relationship. Raymond was very apologetic and promised to figure things out."

The following day, the eight-time Grammy award winner called his doctor, who informed the woman she had probably picked up the STI between 2009 and 2010.

The affidavit adds: "From the day she was infected continuing to the present, [the defendant] has suffered severe emotional distress and has been extremely depressed. In May 2012, she cried all the time and did not want to leave her house.

"Not a day has gone by where she does not feel desolation and despair about her herpes infection knowing that there is no cure. Her infection has destroyed her sense of self, wholeness, health and beauty and she fears she will never be able to have the type of relationship she had hoped for."

The former Voice judge is currently married to Grace Miguel, after getting hitched in 2015. The singer is yet to make a public statement about the matter.

Herpes simplex is a viral disease which typically forms on two parts of the body: the mouth and genitals. The former will result in blisters, more commonly known as cold sores, and sometimes a small throat during flair ups. The latter also causes blisters which can form into ulcers in and around the genital area.

There are cases where the herpes simplex virus can include the fingers, the eye and the brain. By 2003, it's believed a staggering 536 million people around the world had been infected with genital herpes.
