It's strange to see the state Rio is currently in on the precipice of their summer Olympics.

Their job of hosting the last World Cup in 2014 was a major triumph, bar the battering they got dealt by the Germans.

But this news seems a bit too ridiculous to be true. Apparently, The Guardian initially reported, a Russian diplomat trained in Jiu-Jitsu, shot and killed a thief who tried to rob his car, holding his wife and other family at the time.

The theft took place on a thoroughfare between downtown Rio and the Olympic Park. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene.

However, according to Folha, the man who shot the thief was just an impersonator and not an employee of the Russian consulate.

Still, it's wacky enough to be believable.
