Heartbreaking.

This morning the devastating news that a plane carrying the Brazilian football team and staff of Chapecoense crashed, fatally killing at least 75 people, according to reports.

The flight's black boxes have now been recovered by a Colombian civil aeronautics investigator, which are believed to show that passengers were ordered onto an already faulty aircraft, with unconfirmed reports the aircraft had 'electrical issues'.

Furthermore, according to The Sun, the plane that crashed wasn't the craft the team were originally supposed to fly on and the route was not the one the pilot wanted. The plan was to fly from Brazil to Colombia, but instead the team were refused permission and made to fly from Brazil to Bolivia, where they'd catch a connecting flight to Colombia.

A phone call from a Bolivia-based LAMIA airline pilot shows that he pleaded to get a more direct route.

"I hired a Bolivian aeroplane to take us from São Paulo Guarulhos to Santa Cruz. I'll be waiting here in Santa Cruz," he's heard saying.

"Please Mayor, give us some help here for us to enter."

However, he was refused by Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) because of rules over flight services between countries, with a ruling official saying: "The transportation must be done by a Brazilian or Colombian company.

"I understand that there is a company already in place to carry out the flight. That being the case, I deny authorisation."

This is a truly heartbreaking event.
