The 'World's Hottest Thief' Just Got A Modelling Contract And Prison Time

Double whammy.

In the summer of 2014, a 21-year-old Canadian called Stephanie Beaudoin, along with a trio of teenage accomplices, made world news when she undertook a Bling Ring-esque theft of at least 39 houses in Victoriaville, Quebec.

Beaudoin managed to pilfer the equivalent of $80,000 and was eventually labelled the 'world's hottest thief' following social media exposure.

She was sentenced to 90 days in prison this week on charges related to the thefts and the illegal possession of firearms. The teenagers involved will have their identities protected while they're handled by a Youth Division court.

Beaudoin will only have to serve time on weekends. This seems to suit her lawyer, Denis Lavigne, who told her "it would be a good opportunity to bring a book in on Saturday and have it done when it's time to leave."

Beaudoin told VICE: "I knew I was going to be arrested because I had been followed for a week. But I wasn't able to stop - it was just so intense."

She claims her boyfriend tipped her off about the fuzz getting onto her. "[He] had taken my car, and at one time, he took a road that no one uses unless they're going to a specific location, so he understood that he was being followed."

Beaudoin is now looking at a different career path to crime. Prior to the robberies, she was a struggling model who got the occasional job. But since her arrest on August 5, 2014, she's been signed to B Models Management and looks set for even more work. And they say crime doesn't pay.

However, while free to model, a judge has ruled against her referencing her thug life persona while she's at it.

"I can have modelling contracts as Stephanie Beaudoin. I could have my face on a skin care product. I just can't do it if the brand says something like 'Stephanie the criminal' or whatever. It's a pretty OK condition."
