Seth MacFarlane is a man that a lot of people look to for comical hot takes, which is basically how he's made a living, slipping those into Family Guy and American Dad.

The producer, writer, voice actor and filmmaker went a bit against the grain recently though, when he penned an open letter on Twitter, outlining why Hollywood celebrities dislike Donald Trump.

"Wanna know why Hollywood folks hate Trump?," the letter begins. "We live and work among his kind every day out there.

"His tactics are those employed by the shiftiest of agents, lawyers, and publicists. We've learned to recognise the blustery showmanship of a lying con man because we encounter it every day in our business. We've learned to smell it, because it's bitten so many of us in the ass."

His comments sparked a bit of backlash from pro-Trumpers, but as you'd expect he had a reply for just about all of them.

MacFarlane seized an opportunity to embarrass the president-elect earlier in the year, when he edited the leaked video of Donald Trump's now infamous 'grab 'em by the pussy locker room talk' to include Family Guy character Peter Griffin.

Mark Wahlberg stated this weekend that he believes celebrities should stop sticking their noses into politics, but does Seth have a point here?
