Awesome news!

Boxer Nick Blackwell has woken from an induced coma following a collapse during his boxing match against Chris Eubank Jr. last week.

The middleweight fighter regained consciousness on Saturday and has been well enough to speak to his family and friends today.

Blackwell had been placed in a coma and stretchered form the ring during the fight against Eubank Jr. on 26 March at Wembley's SSE Arena.

Hennessy Sports later claimed the injury was not as bad as expected and that any bleeding was outside the brain and there was no need for an operation.

Blackwell was put into an induced coma for seven days while the team at St Mary's hospital gradually reduced the sedatives initially used.

Here he is recovering in hospital...

And his opponent Eubank Jr. also had a message of support for him.

We wish Blackwell a full recovery.
