Bradley Lowery's mum has said the thought of losing her little boy was 'unbearable'.

Gemma Lowery posted the update on Facebook after the family were given the devastating news that Bradley's last chance cancer treatment hadn't worked.

His mum wrote that she and the family were still trying to get their heads around the fact that Bradley can't be saved.

She wrote: "As a parent, it's heartbreaking to hear. The thought of losing my baby is unbearable.

"We are getting some amazing memories that will last me a lifetime but I'd swap it in a heartbeat if I could let my little boy grow up to be a healthy young man."

She wrote the post alongside a photo of her and Bradley on their recent trip to Flamingo Land. As ever, brave Bradley was smiling.

The family have fought long and hard to give little Bradley, who has neuroblastoma, every chance he could. They launched a huge fundraising campaign to help get him immunotherapy treatment in the US, however, a few weeks ago the family sadly announced that it hadn't been successful.

In a heart-wrenching post, Gemma wrote that they had received the 'news no parent should ever have to hear...'.

She continued: "Scan results show treatment that Bradley has been receiving is not working; this means we will not get him cancer free as this was our last option."

His family are now hoping to help Bradley make as many memories as possible. The brave LAD has won hearts across the world and has made appearances at the Grand National and BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Bradley, who is a massive Sunderland fan, has been invited to walk the team out a number of times. He's also made best pals with his idol, Jermain Defoe, who has been to visit him in hospital several times.

And doctors have just given Bradley the OK to make a trip to Disney World, Florida. Gemma wrote: "I'm over the moon that Bradley's consultant is allowing him to fly so we can go to Disneyland America.

"We don't have long to organise it but would love suggestions on what hotel or villa is best to stay at.

"I'm wanting to make it really special so I'm willing to pay a little bit more than normal.

"Also anything you think that is worth doing let me know as I don't know where to start

"The main activities Bradley wants to do is to go to Universal Studios and swim with dolphins.

"Thank you in advance."

Any money raised for Bradley that will not be used for treatment will now go into the Bradley Lowery Foundation which will support others who are going through the same horrible ordeal.

Neuroblastoma is a form of cancer that generally occurs in babies and young children. It usually begins in someone's adrenal glands, located near the kidneys, or in the nerve tissue that runs along the spinal cord. It can then spread to other organs.

Around 100 children a year in the UK will be diagnosed with neuroblastoma. What causes it is still unknown.
