Brooklyn Beckham Got His First Tattoo And Some People Are Seriously Pissed

Brooklyn Beckham Got His First Tattoo And Some People Are Seriously Pissed

He should have thought twice about this one

The eldest son of one of England's most famous footballers has got himself into a spot of bother after getting inked.

Brooklyn got his first tattoo done by his dad's friend, Mark Mahoney, who is known in the business as being the founding father of black and grey body art.

While this doesn't seem like huge news, it's what Brooklyn actually got inked onto his forearm that is stirring the pot.

The 18-year-old got a portrait of a Native American chief - which is almost identical, if not the exact same as his dad's.

He's posted a few photos on Instagram to mark the occasion.

But the posts soon started to rack up negative comments from people accusing him of cultural appropriation.

One user, thought to be Native American, said: "This is highly offensive for actual native Americans. Don't you people understand your taking something sacred and making a trend out of it, ripping away the true nature of the meaning?

"Just like the white people did to mostly all indigenous people?! I will say, if there's a deeper meaning then fine that's ok...but to get a tattoo of that just because of something so trivial is pretty offensive."

She wasn't alone in her comment, another said: "Native Americans are not an 'aesthetic'. They're real people and you're using them as a design for your skin because it looks nice... lmao."

Another user said, "Ignorant white people with no regard for the violent history of indigenous peoples, for genocide that is still perpetuated today by society and government alike.

"We are not fictional characters from some far away time. We are not sensationalised and generalised images for you to tattoo onto your privileged white arm."

Some people did offer support to the 18-year-old, however: "Leave the kid alone. Why must we be from something in order to show it off or pay homage? There are many things we enjoy, respect, honor, look up to <3 Nice tat, Brooklyn!"

Another user, a bit more candid with her opinion, said: "All of you haters should shut the fuck up and listen. I know that some of you here are Native American or part Native American or have Native American blood this doesn't mean you have to be offended by the tattoo on his arm it is just a tattoo."

While there were a lot of comments along the lines of 'get over it, it's just a tattoo', others believe the themed artwork to be part of a wider problem.

Some music festivals have banned people from wearing indigenous headdresses while Native American musical trio, A Tribe Called Red, also said that they find it insulting.

We'll let Brooklyn weigh up whether he reckons the tattoo was a good idea in a few years. But some people don't need nearly that much time to have a rethink of getting inked.

Introducing Steven Laverty, who got his tattoo while, you guessed it, on a stag do.

Steven now reckons because of the tattoo he will have a harder time talking to women, he's also worried that his kids will think he's an 'idiot'.

The 24-year-old was in Benidorm for his cousin's stag do and admits that getting the tattoo is 'all a bit of a blur'. He spent three days binge drinking when he decided to get the words 'what about ye' on his eyelids.

HIS FUCKING EYELIDS.

Apparently 'what about ye' is a common greeting in Northern Ireland and it means 'how are you?'. So, why wouldn't you want that permanently etched on to your skin?

Steven told the Sun: "When I had a few drinks in me I was telling everyone I was going to do it but my other cousin Ryan talked me out of it. Then when everyone went to the beach, I just thought: 'Fuck it'.

"It's not even like the words mean much to me. 'What about ye' is just a saying. When everyone saw it they just laughed their heads off at me."

Although, on the bright-side, he reckons he managed to get a few quid knocked off the price, as the tattooist wanted £60 but he managed to get this piece of art for just 22 of your English pounds. Bargain...

And, the new ink is already turning heads: "Everyone on the plane back was staring at me.

"You can see the words whether my eyes are open or shut. I might have to start wearing glasses a lot more often."

You think?
