The family of Take Me Out 's Charlie Watkins gave ITV permission to screen his date after his death.

His family confirmed that the 22-year-old took his own life after struggling with the death of his mum, reports the Mirror Online.

The criminology graduate died shortly after filming at the studio and flying off to Fernandos with his match Jo Tara.

Despite this, his family reportedly wanted the episode to be broadcast and the show will see Charlie go on his date on Saturday night.

He will also appear on the Sunday spin-off show, The Gossip, hosted by Laura Jackson and Mark Wright.

The Mirror Online reports that Charlie's family said in a statement: "We have lost a very special young man who sadly never recovered from the tragic loss of his mother when he was only nine years old.

"Tragically this is another example of the mental health issues suffered by young people today as highlighted by the Heads Together campaign supported by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry."

Take Me Out presenter Paddy McGuinness also took to social media to dedicate the first episode to Charlie.

Just before the first show, Paddy tweeted: "Tonight's Take Me Out is in memory of Charlie.

"A fantastic lad who I'm sure will be greatly missed by his wonderful friends & family. RIP".

Charlie's family have now set up a fundraising page, which has so far raised over £12,000 for mental health charity Mind.

Recently, Prince William - along Prince Harry and wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, have been raising awareness about the Heads Together campaign.

The campaign aims to end the stigma and 'change the national conversation on mental health and wellbeing'.

The prince called for an end to the 'stiff upper lip' culture, and said he wants his own children to be able to openly talk about their emotions.

Take Me Out will air on ITV on tonight at 6.45pm.
