The £1 coin game is about to change forever.
No longer will the only bit of change worth having in your pocket be a circular shape. Instead, the Royal Mint has decided to create a new breed of £1 that will be a dodecagon. Yeah, you heard.
A dodecagon, for those who had to slow down their reading and say it out loud, is a 12-sided shape which comes from the Greek word 'dodeca'. This means 12 - you can have that lil nugget for free.

Anyway, the new dosh will come into circulation in March and people who own cash-handling firms or operate vending machines have been told to go to the creatively-named thenewpoundcoin.com for more information about the transition.
David Gauke, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, said: "The pound as we know it will not be round for much longer.
"The introduction of this new £1 coin will be a highly significant event and we are working with the Royal Mint to ensure key industries are ready and to ensure a smooth transition."

Apparently, some businesses are going to train their staff on the 'new features' of the quid. One such new feature is the £ symbol that changes to the number one when you look at it from different angles.
The change is to make the new shrapnel 'the most secure of its kind in the world' and stop counterfeiters using the supposed 45 million fakes currently in circulation.
That means it's time to store up your old loot somewhere safe, because they'll probably be worth a small fortune.
