Family Offers £50,000 A Year For Nanny To Look After Children In 'Haunted House'

Babysitting isn't a job for everyone, but babysitting in a haunted house is a job for just about no one.

A Scottish family are trying their luck at hiring a live-in nanny at their haunted gaff, though, offering a tidy pay packet for the successful candidate.

The house is in the Scottish Borders and is apparently a 'lovely, spacious, historic property with spectacular views'. For living in that loveliness, as well as looking after a five and seven-year-old, with a sprinkling of scariness on top, you can earn yourself £50,000 per year.

You might snap up the chance, thinking there'll be nothing to it, but five people have quit the job due to the 'supernatural incidents', reports the Telegraph.

"We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years," the mother of the family wrote in an advert on Childcare.co.uk.

"We were told it was 'haunted' when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless.

"Five nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass and furniture moving. This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children.

"We haven't personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we've been out of the house, but we're happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it's important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person."

It's quite admirable that they've gone very up front and told candidates that five people have nipped it in the bud. But then again, not everyone believes in the 'supernatural', so they'll most likely get a few applicants.

CEO of Childcare.co.uk, Richard Conway, has even commented on it, saying it's definitely the most interesting advertisement they've had on the site.

"When we saw the advert we were stunned. Some of the guys at HQ were sceptical but after talking to the family and their previous employees we realised it was a genuine position," he told the Daily Mirror.

"We have hundreds of thousands of providers on the site and we're hoping that one of them will be able to help them.



"We've had some weird and wonderful families find childcare providers through the site, however I think this is probably the most interesting story we've heard.

"The family has assured us that no harm has come to anyone living in the house, however the nanny will have to have a strong disposition.," he added.
