A Request To People Dressing As Clowns And Scaring People: Piss Off

A Request To People Dressing As Clowns And Scaring People: Piss Off

Knock it off.

As you've most probably seen, a sick craze of people dressing up as clowns and jumping out on people is finding its way from America over to the UK.

The chances are that the first few clips that went viral of people crapping themselves were staged for some kind of promo, but since then people have been doing it for what they perceive to be a laugh.

Police in Northumbria have recently received six reports of clowns scaring schoolchildren, leaving the kids, understandably, 'incredibly distressed'. This has led to police warning people in the UK that taking a fresh pair of boxers out with you is advised, as there might be a knife wielding clown who makes you crap yourself.

They are everywhere

The clips have since racked up massive amounts of views, likes and shares. There are enough to make your palms sweat and sleep with the light on - but there's a line. I'm not being funny, but if some dolt reckons it's a laugh to jump out on me while I'm on the way back from my weekly shop, I won't be afraid to kick him in the bollocks.

I understand the point of it - getting into the 'spirit' of Halloween while getting a few cheap laughs - but let's be honest it's not going to be funny when you go at a half-pissed, half-wired smackhead who'll lodge a can of Kestrel deep into your temple.

Places like Farmageddon, which is set up every year for the thrill and adrenaline of being chased around by un-dead circus acts is understandable, as people are actually paying to do it. However, if you have to get home panting and breathing because some bungler gets his kicks from handing out free heart palpitations because they've got nothing better to do, I'd rather do Tough Mudder backwards, with a pan up my arse.

There's a 'Spooky Clowns' Twitter account which posts videos of 'sightings' and warns followers to proceed with caution when looking through the page. As well as the Twitter account, there are a few Instagram accounts that do the same thing, and say that clowns are 'coming to a town near you'.

The fear of clowns, or coulrophobia as it's known, is a lot more common than you'd first think. The circus acts are genuinely terrifying to some people and that fear only multiplies when they're holding a knife... Obviously.

I guess, to sum it all up, there's one request for these clowns on behalf of the majority of us: do one. Cheers.

Also, Ronald McDonald, grab ahold of yourself, you're just as creepy.
