Rescued Dog Drags Blanket Outside So Homeless Dog Could Sleep On It

Rescued Dog Drags Blanket Outside So Homeless Dog Could Sleep On It

Like J-Lo/Jenny from the Block, Lana the dog knows where she came from, so don't be fooled by the rocks that she's got, even if they're actual rocks in her mouth because she hasn't learned the difference between food and minerals formed by the elements over millions of years. Dogs will eat anything.

Lana the dog (Lana Crufts, if you will) is a rescue pup who keeps an eye out for those less fortunate than her four-legged bad self.

The 8-month old pup, rescued off the streets of Brazil by owner Suelen Shaumloeffel, seems to remember her tough former life on the streets. Why?

Shaumloeffel recently discovered that her puppy, who sleeps in an outside dog-pad, has been dragging a blanket out from her shelter to share with a local homeless dog.

Due to a cold snap in her home region, Shaumloeffel bought a thick blanket to keep Lana warm (her thick black coat wasn't thick enough).

However, she soon discovered that Lana was taking the blanket out to share with another dog.

Since then, she's been leaving water out for the local stray, but is unable to give it more help because it runs away scared whenever she tries to approach, a bit like me with girls. I should probably stop trying to give them water for no reason, but it's too late to stop now. Evian Ladies?

"I thought, 'How beautiful that she did that for her friend'," Suelen told The Dodo.

"My best four-legged friend reminded me of something so important: generosity She is the nicest little dog I've ever met. We forget sometimes the difference we can make in someone's life. She reminded me of this."

Stray dogs are a common feature on Brazil's streets. The country came under heavy criticism at home and abroad when the government ordered strays to be 'removed' from streets and beaches in Recife in the run up to the 2014 World Cup, which Brazil went out of in shocking style, losing 7-1 to eventual winners Germany.

A couple of years later, the government launched a huge adoption programme #AbraceUmAmigo or 'Hug A Friend' to try and find homes for dogs rather than see them put down, as the country prepared to host the Summer Olympics and receive international attention once again.
