Bodybuilder Accused Of 'Bodyshaming' After Taking Picture Of Woman In Gym

She commented on the woman's 'lovehandles'.

I don't know about you, but whenever I go to the gym I feel really self-conscious. I'm surrounded by incredibly buff and healthy people who have amazing bodies, while I shuffle on the treadmill looking like I should be at home.

However, the one thing I always think to myself is that no-one cares what you look like. Everyone's there to make themselves look better; why would they be looking at you?

Generally, this is the case. Sadly, there's always one or two people who have to ruin everything.

Take this female bodybuilder, Diana Andrews, for example. She took to Instagram and shared the following images to her 17,000 followers and has since been slammed for 'bodyshaming'.

She soon realised that this is completely out of order and quickly posted an apology to Snapchat....

It said: "I realised that I was wrong to make this silly joke. It wasn't my intention to body shame, hurt or disrespect anyone."

Hmm, kind of seems that you were TBH.

The screenshots found their way onto a women's support group with the caption: "This is why most people hate going to the gym to try and better themselves."

Diana then wrote this on Facebook...

It reads: "I saw this girl walking on the treadmill, talking on her phone, and I made a video and added a comment that she's probably ordering take away.

"The whole point of this video was that she's using her phone while on the treadmill. The whole story was turned upside down by taking a screenshot and adding comments that I'm body shaming this woman. I would never do this, it's not who I am.

"I'm always encouraging people to do their best and push themselves. I'm here to motivate, especially women, not to be afraid and get that work done. People that know me know I'm not a bully."

Emmy Gilmour from The Recover Clinic, whose purpose is to help those with eating disorders, told the Huffington Post: "This is a really tragic example of a how society has conditioned women to judge and compare one another.

"We're living in an era where it's normal to tell women that they're inadequate, and that they must apologise for how they look."

This apology seems to have made things worse, as she's tried making it out to be about the girl's phone when it's obviously about her body.

Yikes.

She's not the first person to cause controversy after taking pictures of a woman in the gym.

Former Playmate of the Year Dani Mathers made the news over the summer when she posted a Snapchat picture of a naked lady in the gym with the caption: "If I can't unsee this then you can't either." Lovely.

The photo caught the attention of the Internet and began circulating wildly, with many people calling her out for being mean. Mathers was placed under investigation.

Since then, the Los Angeles Police Department reportedly traced the photo back to a 70-year-old lady.

Understandably, she was pissed off following the images of her naked body going online for the world to see.

Mathers was charged with a misdemeanour count of invasion of privacy.

As a result, if she's convicted, she could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Ouch.

Immediately following the incident, Mathers deleted the image, tweeted an apology and attempted to back-track in an almost-pathetic fashion.

She then went a bit overboard and recorded a video apology, too.

She was probably a bit gutted that the gym she attended cancelled her membership due to her actions.

In the video, the 30-year-old said: "I just want to acknowledge a photo that I accidentally posted. It was absolutely wrong and not what I meant to do.

"I chose to do what I do for a living because I love the female body and I know body shaming is wrong. That's not what I'm about and this is not the type of person I am.

"The photo was taken as part of a personal conversation with a girlfriend and because I am new to Snapchat I didn't realise I had posted it, and that was a huge mistake.

"I know I have upset a lot of people out there but please believe me, this is not the type of person that I am. I have never done this before and I will never do this again, you have my word."

There's a lesson here; don't take pictures of other people in the gym. It's weird and gross - plus you could end up going to jail.
