Jaden Smith Had A Barmy Reason For Taking His Old Hair To Met Gala

Jaden Smith is a guy who started out life simply as 'Will Smith's son'. Obviously, that's not a bad way to be known, but he took things into his own hands and started a promising acting career, as well as trying his hand at rapping.

However, most of that has largely been forgotten as now he's known for his rather abstract fashion and out-there outlook on life.

He's once again managed to baffle people, this time after bringing his old hair to the red carpet of the Met Gala in New York.

The 18-year-old has had to cut his hair for a new film role, and so it meant saying goodbye to his blonde dreadlocks.

It's not just the fact that he brought along his old hair, but it's also the reason he gave for doing so.

You see, Jaden was planning to bring his sister, Willow, to the event as his date. However, for unknown reasons the 'Whip My Hair' singer couldn't make it, so the crusty old dreads were the natural replacement.

"Since I couldn't bring my sister as a date, I brought my old hair," he told Vogue red carpet stalwart André Leon Talley.

The reporter referred to it as 'avant-garde', which, by definition, it is, though he may have gotten mixed up with 'dead weird'.

The 18-year-old also revealed that he's awaiting the release of a new song called 'Batman', as well as filming Life in a Year, slated for release in 2018.

For the film, in which he plays the role of a boyfriend of a dying girlfriend, he and Cara Delevingne both had to shaved their heads.

The 24-year-old model and actress wasn't messing about and wanted to fully embrace the character she is playing - a teenager who is dying. That's dedication to a role.

Life in a Year follows the story of 17-year-old Daryn (Jaden), who finds out his girlfriend (Cara) is dying and sets out to give them both an 'entire life' together in just one year.

Earlier this month, Cara posted a photo of herself on Instagram with short pink hair. Appearing on USA Today, she said: "I have to shave my head for my next part, so I have to do something different.

"So I dyed it. Just for fun. Just to change it up."

I mean, she could have just put on one of those bald caps, but it seems like that's not enough for Cara, who is reported to be really throwing herself into the role.

Jaden has also cut his hair for the film. He got rid of his signature dreadlocks earlier this month. And you'd think with him being a millionaire he'd go out and find the best barber money can buy, wouldn't you? But, nah, he got his dad, Will, to have a bash instead.

Kind of want Will Smith as my barber now.
