There's a few rules to abide by when going to someone else's birthday party. Funny birthday presents are okay, so long as they don't reference horrifying events in the recipient's cultural community or traditional religion.
A group of teens clearly didn't get the memo on this after they gave their Jewish friend a cupcake with a Nazi swastika on it for their special day.
The 14-year-olds, who had reportedly been studying the Holocaust at school, have apologised and insisted they were just trying to be 'funny' with the gift. Despite the tepid apology, the mother of the girl who received the cake was understandably furious.

Naomi Cooper Hochman, who is a friend of the teenager's mum, posted a picture of the treat to Facebook, condemning the kids who deemed it a good idea.
"One of my sorority sisters, who is Jewish and lives in a diverse community in Arizona, hosted an intimate cupcake decorating party last night at her home for her daughter's 14th birthday," she wrote. "Just some teen girls having fun baking and watching the Princess Bride, right? Well - this is what two of the invited guests decided to put on a cupcake." Here's the post in full.

Given that the creators of the cupcake had recently been taught about the Holocaust, they obviously knew the significance of what they were doing.
Naomi refers to her friend as 'Debbie', who reportedly believes that making a scenario like this public will help to educate people a little bit more.
'Opening this hurtful incident up to others to provide a teaching moment will hopefully stop others from promoting ideas of hate is all I ever wanted', Debbie told her friend, according to the Daily Mail.
The group of teens have now hopefully learnt their lesson.
