Paris Jackson Has Revealed She Identifies As An African-American

She revealed all in an interview with Rolling Stone.

In her first ever in-depth interview with Rolling Stone, Paris Jackson said a lot of unexpected things - but one of the most surprising is that she self-identifies as black.

Paris has had a troubled up-bringing since her father died when she was 11 - suffering from anxiety and depression, she has self-harmed and tried to commit suicide several times. After her third 'strike', as she called it, she went to a residential therapy programme in Utah which set her on a road to recovery and she seems to be on a more positive path.

But of course people are always keen to ask her questions about her father - that's something she'll never escape from.

Many have cast doubt on whether Paris, her brothers Prince and Blanket are Michael Jackson's biological children. The Thriller star was African-American and significantly altered his face with plastic surgery and reportedly suffered from a skin disease that turned his skin white.

But Paris and her brother Prince are adamant that Michael was her real father.

"Every time someone asks me that," Prince told Rolling Stone, "I ask, 'What's the point? What difference does it make?' Specifically to someone who's not involved in my life. How does that affect your life? It doesn't change mine."

Paris only met her biological mother as a teenager - after her father died.

"I consider myself black," she said, explaining Michael "would look me in the eyes and he'd point his finger at me and he'd be like, 'You're black. Be proud of your roots.' And I'd be like, 'OK, he's my dad, why would he lie to me?'

"So I just believe what he told me. 'Cause, to my knowledge, he's never lied to me. Most people that don't know me call me white. I've got light skin and, especially since I've had my hair blonde, I look like I was born in Finland or something."

Interestingly enough, her drummer boyfriend Michael Snoddy has a tattoo of a confederate flag on his wrist. The flag is seen as a racist symbol for people who were against abolishing slavery. But he's said that he can't be racist because he's dating a black girl.
