A lot of us like to recreate things we see on TV or the Internet. The warnings that always flashed up on WWE or Jackass, saying "don't try this at home" meant absolutely nothing to us, because at the end of the day it looked cool.
However, this is one of those stories that will put you off trying a stunt that you've seen go viral.
You may remember a while ago a clip that showed a man surprising his sleeping friend, waking him up and making him think he's the victim of a chainsaw attack.

The prank was well thought out and pretty safe, as the rotary chain was removed from the saw meaning very little harm could be caused. Here it is!

Unfortunately for a German 18-year-old, the same precaution wasn't taken when his friends tried playing the same joke on him, leaving him with a disastrous injury.

The teen had fallen asleep during his Christmas celebrations, catching 40 winks on the sofa.
His friends then woke him up with the sound of the motor. Startled by the racket, he leaped into the air and his left hand was nearly severed when he tried to push the blade away.
He was rushed to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery on his hand, while his four friends were treated for shock.
Despite the prank being made with good intentions, the 22-year-old who was holding the chainsaw will likely have to appear in court and will be charged with inflicting dangerous bodily injury.

"The 22-year-old told us that he was sure he had switched on the chain brake. But the chain had turned," police spokesman Wolfgang Lueckenkemper said.
The video of the incident has been kept by the police.
