Dash Cam Captures Man Attempting 'Crash For Cash Scam'

Awful.

If you're a driver then you probably know about the bottomless pit of knobheads that flood the roads.

For some reason, some people think that indicators are simply for decoration, and don't need to be used. Others fail to grasp the concept of space, thinking it's okay to try and move into your lane ahead of you, when there's clearly no room.

Those are just two examples of things that wind people up from behind the wheel. There are other things that you after to be weary of, though.

For a while now, a reported scam has been going on. It's where a driver will pull out in front of a car, but slow down, slamming on the breaks, forcing the person behind them to crash into their rear end. They then get out of the car, approach the driver and ask them to pay for the damages.

The incident occurred in Bolton, last week. The driver of the van gets out of his vehicle to assess the damage on the VW.

The pair discuss the bump, reportedly talking about compensation. However, the driver of the VW speeds off after allegedly being told he's being filmed.

"I braked so hard that everything in my van ended up on the floor. I wasn't expecting it at all, it was a huge shock," Ian Bell, the van driver, said. "I thought 'phew, I missed him' but then he slammed on the brakes and there was nothing I could do.

"You just wouldn't pull out and brake the way he did - if he'd carried on moving the crash wouldn't have happened.

"Sometimes words just fail me.

"The way he changed his tune when I told him my dashcam is constantly recording."

He believes he was victim of an attempted "crash for cash scam".
