Prince William Used To Call The Queen "Gary"

Alright Gary, mate?

We've all got certain pet nicknames for our grandparents. Some go for 'pops', or 'nana', whereas others have unique ones born out of situations early in life.

Me, my sister and cousins used to call our granddad 'Parker', simply because my sister couldn't pronounce 'Grampa' properly. It seems that Prince William and Prince Harry also had a similar thing for the Queen.

William, who is now second in line to the throne, apparently couldn't say "granny" when he was younger, and so used to call his grandmother Gary.

Just one question, Will - did you once star in an episode of Only Fools and Horses?

According to high society gossip columnist Richard Kay for the Daily Mail, William would fall over in the palace, before shouting "Gary, Gary" as he cried.

"I'm Gary. He hasn't learned to say granny yet," a royal guest revealed the Queen said.

Hopefully when picking up her crying grandchild she wasn't too drunk, as it turns out that the Queen is a massive sesh-head. The 90-year-old monarch apparently has her first gin before most of us have dinner.

She enjoys a gin and Dubonnet with lemon and ice before lunch most days, Business Insider reports.

She follows this up at lunch, where she usually eats fish or chicken with a side salad, and a glass of wine, the Independent reports.

In the evening she takes a dry Martini, before finishing the day with a flute of Champagne.

If she consumes that much each day then it adds up to 6 units per day and a total of 42 units a week, which would make Her Majesty a binge drinker by government standards.
