Woman Kicked Out Of Shopping Centre For 'Inappropriate Dress'

Woman Kicked Out Of Shopping Centre For 'Inappropriate Dress'

Very, very harsh.

In Britain, entering a shopping centre means you're entering a whole host of problems.

Your average city centre shopping complex is more of a gauntlet, especially at weekends, where you're lucky if you can get to one shop without bumping into, or having to move out of the way of someone.

The hustle and bustle is almost so bad you feel like you could just drop to the floor, and it doesn't help that there's certainly going to be a group of youths walking around causing havoc.

Above all else, though, there's judgmental bastards walking about. They're not afraid to pass comment on anything, often slamming a mother for bringing her child's pram, an old person for walking too slow, and a lost child for crying.

This woman's situation kind of takes the biscuit though. 20-year-old Hannah Pewee was shopping in Michigan's Woodland Mall when she was allegedly asked by a security guard to leave.

When she asked why, she claims that she was told that a customer had complained about her 'inappropriate dress'.

In the 32 degree heat Hannah had opted for a Find Dory vest, along with a pair of shorts, a safe bet on a hot day.

This was enough for someone to be repulsed though, leading the 20-year-old to claim she'd been 'slut shamed'.

In a post on Facebook Hannah wrote: "As many of you know, it is NINETY degrees outside today in West Michigan - aka, really hot.

"So, of course, I decided to dress for the weather: shorts and a tank top. But apparently, how I was dressed was too slutty for the public, as I was kicked out of the Woodland Mall today.

"Yup. Apparently some anonymous person reported me to MALL SECURITY for inappropriate dress and I was kicked out.

"Never mind that within a one foot radius there were plenty of girls dressed just like me, since it's NINETY degrees outside. I am so angry right now I'm shaking.

"I felt so embarrassed I almost cried. All because a stranger didn't like how I dressed.

"I complied. I'm not a confrontational person. Even though I didn't feel it was right, I didn't want to get in their faces and be like, 'No I'm not leaving', and start a big scene. But after I left, I was like, 'I don't feel like I should have been treated like that'."

The post then went viral, along with the picture and Woodland Mall caught wind of it.

The mall posted a statement on Facebook, saying: "We have apologised to Hannah and we apologise to our community.

"It is never our intention to shame or embarrass anyone.

"We're going to make sure that everyone on our team is aware of how to handle situations like this in the future.

"We dropped the ball on this one."

They also began to respond to commenters on Hannah's post, with one pointing out that the mall itself sell the exact clothes she's wearing.
