A 'Mutant Piglet' Was Born On A Farm In China

Sadly, the animal did not survive beyond being born.

Because we're all consumers and spare very little thought for what we're buying, it's very rare that we might think about where the food we eat comes from.

It's not the same for everyone, of course, but most people won't spare a thought for the pig, chicken or cow their supermarket food represents.

It's simply because it tastes nice, and if we were to be told about the conditions an animal is being kept in then it might spoil the glory our taste buds witness.

With all that in mind, you might want to prepare to have every Sunday morning bacon or sausage sarnie ruined, as you feast your eyes upon this mutant piglet found in China.

Found by farmer Gao Baiqi on his farm in Fe County in Linyi City in China's eastern Shandong Province, the poor piglet has two bodies and eight legs but sadly died minutes after being born.

The creature was found to be conjoined twins, which kicked and struggled, and was born with underdeveloped skin.

"Besides having one head, two bodies and eight legs, the piglet appeared normal and had all other organs," Gao said. "I had prepared milk and wanted to feed it myself, but it died in a few minutes."

The farmer is unsure as to why the birth defect occurred, although it's thought to be no different from human conjoined twins, which is the result of an egg that doesn't split properly.

Gao gave the piglet a burial on his farm, but not before showing his neighbours, which seems like an odd encounter.

"Oi, Bob. Morning, mate, you okay? Grand, yeah, just put your breakfast down for a minute - come have a look at my dead mutant pig. Stop throwing up."
