WARNING: SOME PEOPLE MAY FIND THE FOLLOWING IMAGES DISTURBING

A couple of trainee doctors have been sacked after sharing a smiling selfie of themselves on social media whilst holding an amputated foot.

They're now facing a court probe after the selfie was shared with the caption: "My first leg dad. Sorry if these images upset you."

One of the women has been locally named as 24-year-old Carolina Dominguez Garcia.

Social security chiefs in Monterrey, northern Mexico, responded to the incident by sacking the two women involved.

They also said that they're lodging a formal complaint with the courts.

Mikel Arriola, Director of the Mexican Social Security Institute told the Mail: "Because of two interns who posted an inappropriate photo on social media, we're not going to stop recognising that the 12,000 trainees with the Institute are a great source of pride."

Local reports have also stated that the following image of Carolina shows her posing with a piece of someone's stomach.

Despite the photographs clearly being out of order, some people have claimed that there isn't enough education regarding the use of social media for these trainees.

The incident also comes after a Chinese restaurant was accused of serving human feet after a waiter posted a photo - allegedly taken in the kitchen - to social media.

Apparently, some diners attended a restaurant in Padua, in northern Italy where they requested 'bear paws'. A waiter, who hasn't been named, took the photo of the 'bear paws' he served to them and posted it to social media.

A regular customer saw the image and reported it to the police and food standards officials who, in turn, inspected the restaurant and found 55lbs of meat and frozen fish of dubious origin.

Police have consulted a forensic pathologist about the picture to determine whether they're human, and say they are still investigating where and when the image was taken.
