Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley has been slammed for making comments about the Duchess of Cambridge's waistline.
On Monday (18th October), Madeley and his GMB co-presenter, Susanna Reid, were looking back at the highlights of the first ever Earthshot Prize Awards, which honours people who are trying to save the planet.
The Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge set a great example of the dress code, which advised guests to "consider the environment when choosing their outfit," as both recycled previously worn ensembles, reports Vogue. Kate wore a 10-year-old £4,290 Alexander McQueen dress for the occasion.
Richard Madeley said: "She's so slim isn't she, Kate."
To which Susana Reid replied: "She is, isn't she?"
"Tiny, tiny waist," he added.
"She looks absolutely terrific," Reid said in agreement.
Madeley's remarks raised eyebrows and angered viewers, who took to social media to voice their opinions about the comments.
"@GMB I cannot believe you employ Richard Madeley whose only comment about Earthshot was about the size of The Duchess of Cambridge's Waist. What an embarrassment," one Twitter user said.
"Susanna's response was no better - 'yes, she looks terrific' as if thinness automatically equates to looking good," another commented.
"GMB show a video round-up of last night's Earthshot Prize featuring lots of innovative ideas for saving the planet. Richard Madeley's only response? 'Hasn't she [Duchess of Cambridge] got a skinny waist?'" said another.
"The Duchess of Cambridge gives an impassioned speech for Earthshot and all Richard Madeley can say is how tiny her waist is. He immediately trivialises the moment, objectifies her and belittles her contribution. Where's the anger that was directed at Piers Morgan. #GMB," said another.Featured Image Credit: Twitter@GMB/PA
