The first film crew ever to leave Earth arrived at the International Space Station on 5th October and among them is Russian actress Yulia Peresild.
Yulia Peresild was selected from a shortlist of 20 actresses to star in the first film to ever be shot in space, The Challenge. American actor Tom Cruise and NASA also have plans to shoot a film up in space, but Russia has beaten them to it.
Yulia will play a cardiac surgeon sent into space to save a cosmonaut and the film will be shot in the Russian sector of the space station. Two of the Russian cosmonauts already on board, Oleg Novitsky and Pyotr Dubrov, will also take part in the film, reports the BBC.
The feature film will be directed by Klim Shipenko and they have 12 days to film the scenes on board the ISS.
Yulia Peresild is an award-winning Russian film and stage actress.
Born on 5th September 1984, Yulia turned 37-years-old on her birthday in 2021. Yulia has two daughters and their father is film director Alexei Uchitel.
Yulia got her big break in 2010 with a starring role as Sofia in The Edge. Her screen debut came in 2010 with the TV series Land.
Yulia is also well known among Russian audiences for the television series Santa Lucia (2012), and the mystical thriller movie Sonnentau.
She is also remembered for her supporting role in In The Fog (2012) and Battle for Sevastopol (2015).
Yulia is also the founding member of children's charity Galchonok, which works to provide treatment for children with organic central nervous system disorders.
Yulia has more than 529,000 followers on Instagram and her Instagram handle is @juliaperesild.
Yulia Peresild's net worth isn't known, but some reports say she's worth around $1.5 million (£1.1 million).
