But have you ever wondered how much more exactly people drink on Christmas? Or if your Christmas drinking habits are actually socially acceptable?

Well, we have the facts on how much people drink at Christmas time. So, whether you choose to cut back your drinking habits this festive season in light of this information or try to beat the earliest time people start drinking at is well and truly up to you.

I Heart Wines conducted the in-question survey on people’s drinking habits and have revealed that 25 percent of U.K. adults will pop open a bottle in the morning.

That’s right, so if you were worrying about having a midday tipple, fear not, a large percentage of Brits are drinking much earlier than you!

It is revealed that the rest of the U.K will typically have a slower start to boozy Christmas, sipping their first festive drink on average of 12.44pm.

In terms of what the average Brit is typically drinking this festive season, Virgin Wines revealed that Malbec is the nation’s favourite wine, with 47 percent of those surveyed revealing they spend more on bottles of it for the Christmas period than any other time in the year.

Interestingly with this statistic, only 12 percent of those taking the survey in question considered red wine their typical go-to.

However, explaining the rationale why so much red wine is purchased despite this, 68 percent of people questioned said that they choose red wine over others at Christmas purely for the festive enjoyment of drinking it.

It could also fit very nicely with the nation’s favourite Christmas foods, which have been revealed to be roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, minced pies and Christmas puddings by a YouGov poll.

More controversially, in terms of Christmas chocolate, another YouGov poll has revealed that in terms of how the average Brit ranks celebrations.

Malteser rightly comes in first, followed by Galaxy and Galaxy Caramel. Followed by this, however, is Bounty and Snickers- meaning that these chocolates are ranked over Twix's, Milky Ways and Mars Bars.

Don’t mind us while we leave all the Bounty’s at the bottom of the tub in protest!
