Golden Girls Star Betty White Dies Aged 99

One of Hollywood's longest-living veterans has passed away at the age of 99

Veteran actor Betty White has died at the age of 99, less than three weeks away from her 100th Birthday.

One of the comedy industry's oldest living stars reportedly passed away in her home on Friday (31 December).

Her agent and close friend Jeff Witjas told People magazine: "Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever."

TMZ allege that White died from natural causes, however, all is yet to be confirmed.

In a career that spanned over 80 years, she proved that age is just a number.

She is best known for her Emmy-winning roles on television sitcoms The Golden Girls and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

The 99-year-old recently featured on People magazine's front cover to discuss her longevity ahead of her birthday and said that her mother installed a positive attitude in her which is what lead to a long and happy life.

She said: "I got it from my mom, and that never changed. I always find the positive."

When People asked Betty about her diet, a typical question when someone approaches their centenary, she responded with typical humour.

Instead of referring to daily glasses of red wine, porridge, or any of the other 'super foods' centenarians often consume, Betty claimed an unexpected secret.

She said: "I try to avoid anything green.

"I think it's working."

Well, whatever she was doing definitely seemed to work and she led a long life and an unforgettable career.

RIP Betty White.
