Watch the bizarre moment that a boa constrictor - found on a busy street in London in broad daylight, we should add - crushes and swallows a pigeon whole.

Why the boa constrictor was hanging out on Leytonstone High Road is baffling in itself, and that's without factoring in the grim realisation that it's squeezing a whole pigeon into its deadly grasp.

The footage was captured by Facebook user Rebecca Garland, who shared it to a group called Shit London, writing: "This morning on Leytonstone High Road".

As you'd imagine, people seemed both confused and grossed-out by the video, while some others also sympathised with the 'poor pidgy'.

One person commented: "There are a lot of unanswered questions here!"

Another wrote: "What the fuck. Where the hell did it come from? Poor pidgy."

On the other hand, someone else also said: "I fully support this new measure to control the skyrat population".

Another person said: "Fuck sake this heatwave better not have bought the tropical wildlife with it!"

Similarly, another added: "What the fuck!!!!!!! The temperature is officially tropical!!! We could also use them all around the city to fix the problem with pigeons!!! Somebody should tell to the mayor!!!"

Others suggested that the boa constrictor was probably an escaped pet - you know, rather than an indication of London having turned into a jungle overnight.

Mind you, someone did come up with a pretty legit theory, writing simply: "JUMANJI!!!"

Let's just hope it's only the snake that escaped from the board game, and not a bunch of lions and tigers, eh?

The RSPCA has confirmed that the boa constrictor has now been rescued and taken to a local wildlife centre. As for the pigeon? Well, the less said about that poor guy the better.

RSPCA inspector Rebecca Benson said: "I'm very keen to find out how he came to be in such a dangerous situation.

"Exposed like that on a street could have meant anything might have happened to him - he could have been run over by a car or attacked by another animal.

"It might be that he is an escaped pet, or more worryingly, someone may have deliberately dumped him and left him to fend for himself.

"Either way, anybody with any information can give me a call in complete confidence on our inspector's appeal line by phoning 0300 123 8018."

Ah, nature. So beautiful... And so, so weird.
