Last year was filled with many dramas, many of which I won't need to remind you of. But through all the doom and gloom, there was one news story that found a happy ending, after Chanel the African Grey parrot was reuinted with her owner.

Chanel's owner Sandra Hannah went viral last April after live-streaming her hunt for the missing pet, who had escaped from her cage and flown off into the distance.

Thankfully, Chanel was found alive and well within a couple of days - while Sandra became internet gold.

In fact, she even gained a new nickname from the whole debacle after being dubbed the 'crazy parrot lady', which is a moniker that people still remember now.

Speaking to LADbible's sister site Tyla, 40-year-old Sandra said she'd 'stayed up all night laughing' the night she found unlikely viral fame, and finds the attention that has followed very amusing.

"I'm still recognised as the crazy parrot lady," she said.

"Even this morning I was walking around and someone was like - 'You're the Chanel parrot lady!'

"My kids won't even go out with me! They're like 'Mum, everyone's shouting Chanel at you."

She added: "I'm glad I'm as strong as I am to deal with it!

"But I love the memes. The Whitney Houston one, the Jurassic Park one, it was just funny."

While Sandra was surprised to go viral, she was happy that the moment brought joy to others.

"I have it tattooed on me, everything happens for a reason," she said.

"Everyone says I made their lockdown, and that they all felt depressed - then some crazy parrot lady ran down the street and made us all happy."

Mum-of-four Sandra said Chanel's full name is 'Chanel Chanellington', and that there's a reason behind her designer moniker.

Sandra, who's had Chanel since she was 12 weeks old, said her bird is 'such a little diva', and knew she had her hands full from when she was a youngster.

"She was like a naughty little child, she would pick up every naughty little sound," she explained.

"I tried to teach her to say all the kids names but no, she'd rather say b***h. Her favourite phrase at the moment is 'Get out now'.

"I called her Chanel because my chihuahua is called Coco, and I thought it's got to go with that, and we just went with that - and then she just started to call herself Chanel Chanellington. She talks to herself a lot."
