An amusing optical illusion has made it look like a dog managed to walk through a brick wall, with social media users nicknaming the pooch 'Harry Doggo'.

The short clip was shared on Reddit by the r/opticalillusions sub-thread with the caption: "Dog appears to walk through wall for a split second."

In the footage, we see a German Shepherd hanging out with two women down the side of a house.

After jumping up and landing its paws on the wall for balance, the dog returns to the ground and snakes its body around one of the women - who looks slightly terrified by the large canine, which is almost as big as her.

As the dog winds its way around her legs, it appears to disappear into the wall as its head suddenly vanishes from sight.

However, you soon realise it simply turned its head to turn right around the woman, as it reappears on the other side of her legs.

Commenting on the video, which was originally posted by Redditor u/pop-xans, another user wrote: "My brain hurts every time I watch it."

Someone else said: "All it is is that he is one fluffy boi."

Others were reminded of the Harry Potter franchise, where Hogwarts students famously walk through a wall at King's Cross Station to get to Platform 9 3/4.

"Harry Doggo trying to catch his train," one said, with another chipping in: "Harry Pupper and the Alley of Scritches."

Someone else added: "BRB, going to Hogwarts."

Internet users love an optical illusion to scratch their chins over.

Remember the viral photo of a leopard hiding in a ditch? That one proved to be a particularly tricky nut to crack - even now, I'm still not really certain where the animal is.

The picture, which was posted on Twitter last year, shows just how effective animals' camouflaged coats can be, as many of us were still none the wiser after half an hour of frustrated searching.

The Twitter user uploaded the image while admitting that when her friend sent it to her, she thought they were taking the p***.

She said: "Someone just sent this to me and asked me to find the leopard. I was convinced it was a joke... until I found the leopard. Can you spot it?"

If you've still been unable to locate the elusive big cat, find out the answer here.
