Dad Films Tiger Attempting To Attack His Son At Dublin Zoo

He's lucky the protective glass was there...

A young boy got the fright of his life when a tiger stalked him and smashed into the glass behind him at Dublin Zoo. Have a look at the video - it's terrifying.

Seven-year-old Sean probably wasn't as shocked as the poor tiger, who presumably assumed he was going to get some fresh meat but instead ended up lunging into an invisible wall.

That's got to be confusing for a tiger.

Anyway, Sean was visiting the zoo in Ireland's capital with his dad when they spotted a photo opportunity in front of the big cat's enclosure.

As Sean posed for the camera, the tiger spotted that his back was turned and figured out that he might stand a chance of catching him out.

Here it comes...

Even when you know the glass is there, it's still terrifying. The tiger creeps up from the background and breaks into a sprint. It then collides with the toughened glass wall of the enclosure with a great big thud.

Luckily for the youngster, the glass did the job it is there to do.

Even luckier for us, Sean's dad Rob shared the short video of the attempted attack to his Twitter page.

He wrote: "My son was on the menu in Dublin Zoo today."

Speaking to RTÉ News At One, Rob said he noticed the behaviour of the tiger change and said: "I kind of twigged that something was about to happen.

"I took out my camera and as soon as I did, the tiger ran down the hill and launched at the window fairly furiously. Sean got a laugh - it didn't particularly faze him. I kind of laughed hysterically."

Since he shared it, it's been viewed more than 500,000 times and shared 6,000 times.

He continued: "As much as there's a bit of a laugh, it is also quite sad as well, because obviously there's great conservation that happens in zoos around the world, but they [the animals] are obviously captive as well so you do have to consider that as well."

Wow. Terrifying stuff.

Rob said that he is a regular visitor to Dublin Zoo, but to capture something as wild as that was 'a little special'.

As for Sean, his dad said his son now 'thinks he's famous'.

He concluded: "I think it's something he'll enjoy telling his friends at school when he's back after the Christmas break."
