Joe Biden has shared a photo of himself posing with his two dogs in the Oval Office.

The president tweeted to explain how the German Shepherds, named Champ and Major, have 'walk-in privileges' when it comes to that special room.

The 78-year-old wrote: "Not many people have Oval Office walk-in privileges. Happy to report that these two are on the list." Phew.

Since posting the picture of them all together, it has received over 260,000 likes as well as 25,000 retweets and nearly 8,000 comments.

One person offered some words of wisdom, writing: "Always trust a man whom dogs trust." Another added: "Humanity back in the Oval Office. Thanks Joe!!!!"

A third person commented: "A good man with two very good, handsome happy doggies. A man that dogs trust - says a lot."

Champ and Major officially moved into the presidential building on 24 January - four days after Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States.

Speaking about the transition, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden's press secretary Michael LaRosa told CNN: "The First Family wanted to get settled before bringing the dogs down to Washington from Delaware.

"Champ is enjoying his new dog bed by the fireplace, and Major loved running around on the South Lawn."

Champ is the Biden's 14-year-old dog and a decade after welcoming him into the family, they then adopted Major from the Delaware Humane Association (DHA) in November 2018

Joe and Jill fostered Major at first when their daughter showed them a litter of puppies needing to be temporarily homed. Naturally, the pair became somewhat set on Major and adopted him.

And now Major has also become the first rescue dog to live in the White House, with a special 'indoguration' held by the DHA to mark his historic move into the famous presidential home.

More than 7,400 animal lovers attended the event - which was held on Zoom - and an incredible $200,000 (£146,000) was raised for the DHA.
