Man Attacked By Shark Has 'Big Chunk' Ripped Out Of His Leg
Mark Bodden, from California, was visiting Miami Beach in Florida with his girlfriend.
However, things took a gnarly turn when he had an unexpected run-in with a shark while swimming in the sea - leaving Bodden with a leg wound believed to measure at least eight inches wide.
Bodden told Fox 35: "There were a lot of fish in the water that day, which I was later told that's a warning to not go in the water.
"I thought it was really cool. I was feeling one with nature."
But Bodden got a little closer to the local wildlife than he perhaps would have liked, as while he was swimming he ended up getting bitten by a shark - not that he realised what had happened at the time.
"It just felt like something punched my leg really hard," he recalled.
"Something didn't feel right. It didn't feel like I got bit but it didn't feel normal either."

Bodden's girlfriend helped him get to shore and lifeguards rushed for help, with Miami Beach Ocean Rescue members stopping the bleeding and keeping his foot elevated as they waited for emergency crews to arrive.
Video footage from the incident shows Bodden receiving treatment on the beach, with his girlfriend helping hold up his bloodied limb while others bandage it up.
The bite was said to have measured at least eight inches wide, with officials saying it's likely it came from a black-tipped shark.
Bodden continued: "My girlfriend and I assessed my leg and saw how there was a big chunk taken out of it.
"I was hoping it wasn't a shark but I knew that it was likely.
"I've heard shark teeth are like surgeons' scalpel blades they are just so sharp."
Fortunately, things could have been a lot worse for Bodden, who was released from hospital after just one day.
Mind you, no doubt it'll take a fair while before he has any huge desire to be 'one with nature' again.
