Cornwall is a beautiful place - there's so much to do, so many places to visit, and if you get really lucky you might see a 'domestic cat crossed with a panther'.

Matthew Wild claims he did see such a creature on a recent trip out. He described it as being around six-feet and said it 'would have eaten' his girlfriend if he hadn't been there to protect her.

Matthew was visiting his partner when he says he spotted the 'panther-like' creature banging against the window.

The 30-year-old hero got up and shut the window, at which point he claims the beast suddenly returned and took a swipe at him.

Speaking to Cornwall Live, he said: "It was very intent on getting in. It was trying to get through the window. I thought it had gone and went to shut the window and it went to get me.

"It grabbed my hand through the window. I used to work with animals and this thing was like nothing I'd ever seen. It was worse than anything on telly."

Imagine this bad boy trying to get through your window.

The martial arts fan from Helston, Cornwall, explained that it's just lucky he has 'very tough skin' or the big cat would have drawn blood.

He continued: "If it was standing on the floor it would be reaching about six feet. I would say it's a domestic cat crossed with a panther because of its tone, strength and might.

"It growled deeper and louder than anything on Tarzan, except the lion. It's definitely a wild cat."

We're so glad he cleared up the fact that the lion was a notch louder.

Matt says that the 'panther' would have had his girlfriend.

Matt explains that it's a good thing he was there (with his tough skin) because it meant he was able to protect his girlfriend because if he hadn't been there to keep it from her, 'it would have eaten her'.

He added that his girlfriend 'didn't know what to make of it' - adding that she was 'horrified'.

He concluded: "I phoned the police and they weren't interested and threatened to take action against me if I called again.''

Hmm.
