Molly-Mae Hague burst into tears in a YouTube video during which she explained that her puppy Mr Chai, who died after just six days, hadn't passed away as a result of his journey from Russia.

Hague, who was seated next to her boyfriend Tommy Fury for the video, told how the dog 'was going to die regardless' and urged people to consider carefully when deciding to import a dog from Russia, because she was told that the dog was in good health.

The 21-year-old also shared the details of an autopsy report, which made for some pretty grim reading.

She said: "The autopsy results showed that his skull wasn't fully developed and part of his brain was exposed. He didn't have a single white blood cell in his body."

The Pomeranian dog was a present from Fury for her 21st birthday, but the couple have attracted criticism for bringing the pet in from outside the country, particularly from one of Russia's controversial puppy farms.

She said: "Yes, if we had our chance again we wouldn't have imported from Russia.

"While we understand everyone's opinions about him being shipped over from Russia, you need to understand that this is not what made that baby dog pass away. That's not what made him die."

"He was going to die regardless. If we had the time again we would have got a dog from the UK or got a rescue dog from the UK. "

Earlier today, the pair shared a statement in which they expressed their heartbreak over the dog's untimely death.

The Love Island star said: "Tommy and I are utterly heartbroken and shocked to even be writing this. Our beautiful new puppy Mr Chai was taken ill in the last few days and tragically has passed away...

"Chai became our whole world in the short time we had him and we couldn't have taken any better care of him. We loved him so much and he brought us more happiness than we can describe.

"We are really hoping that we can get some clearer answers in the coming days whilst we wait for details and more information from the veterinary experts. Myself and Tommy are completely in shock and truly devastated."

She continued: "In a world currently full of tragedy and loss, we understand there are far far greater issues than this, we just need to share this information in order to start the process of trying to accept and overcome this awful situation.

"We are asking for some time and respect so that we can come to terms with this immense sadness and loss of our beautiful puppy."
